baby steps...

We have been working on our stairs since moving day.  They are wide and are right at the center of our entryway.  Here they were before we moved in:
Once we took the carpet off, we realized that we wanted to keep then uncovered:
So with that decision, it meant that I had what felt like hundreds of staples and nails to remove:
Eden was always ready to help:
Then after that super fun part of the process, we had to fill those holes in:
Our main focus has been the face since we don't want to do too much to the step that isn't sealed and that we can ruin with walking on it while it is in process:
Then Kit took one for the team and sanded it:
So here is where we are now, 6 months after moving in and actually starting the process of refinishing our stairs:

In addition to feeling like the project is moving forward, now you can walk on our stairs in bare feet and not worry about having your tetanus vaccines up to date.  It's the little things♥.
