Halloweekend Traditions 2022

Happy Halloween! We had such fun this weekend.  Here were a few snapshots of our time together...

We made Korean tacos and they were SO good!

Carving and painting pumpkins.  Eden being the artist of the family that she is has decided she may never carve a pumpkin again because she loved painting it so much more!

Ryder's inspiration:

Eden's inspiration:

We finished costumes:
The kids fell asleep watching a movie:
We made pumpkin pancakes before church:
While Ryder was at a game with his team, Eden and I grabbed El Pollo Loco for a car picnic and then drove around to see halloween decorations:
We had the best talks while we drove around...
We came home and Eden and I made our spooky house... The walls did not want to stay up so we were so proud of making it as much as we did:
Today is Eden's school parade and class party and tonight our friends are coming over for pizza and then to trick or treat.  We are so excited about all of the festivities today and we can't wait to share all the memories with you!

fun things ahead...

This weekend, we have some fun traditions in anticipation for Halloween on Monday.  We have some things planned like making cookie halloween houses from Trader Joes,  carving pumpkins, looking at house decorations in the neighborhood, and watching movies together...

In anticipation of our Halloween party on Monday, I have been doing little things around the backyard.  Our pergola makes decorating the back yard so fun!  My Aunt Barbie had given us these urns/pots.  I took clippings from plants around our yard and just put the cuttings in the pots.  We went to the 99 cent store and found a few skeleton parts to add to it to make it extra "creepy"... It was time to remove the summer tomato plants so we turned the garden  into a cemetery with my felt crows.  I can't wait to show you all the finished product but because we have some days with lots of wind and a few with drizzle, I am waiting until the day of to pull it all out.  Gathering the supplies has been so fun!

We can't wait for all the fun and traditions that the next fews days hold!

Also, Ryder had our Spooky SZN at church this last Wednesday and won best homemade costume.

He was so excited and is now even more excited to wear his costume with his friends...  It's going to be a really sweet weekend!

Halloween Costumes 2022

We love making our costumes.  This year, Eden requested to be a glass of boba.  Ryder needed two costumes, one for school (low-key) and one (that was more complex) for the night of trick-or-treating.  For school, he decided on an angler fish after finding some costume ideas on Pinterest.

Inspiration:

For the night of Halloween, he wants to be a goalie IN a goal post, because there is nothing scarier for someone who plays goalie than penalty kicks and shoot outs...❤︎

We have been having so much fun!

I can't wait to show you the finished products next week!

clarity...

...of sight.  Eden got a new prescription for her glasses.  Our optometrist is the absolute best!

This was the first time my girl had her eyes dilated...
She handled it like a champ.
I am so excited that she gets to be so well cared for and that she can have help with seeing the things around her with so much more clarity...❤︎

Weekend with famiily...

This last weekend, some of our family came down from Santa Maria.  It was a quick trip but it was so good to be together!  We went to dinner at Avila's in Corona Del Mar:

We got ice cream at Golden Spoon and walked around the neighborhood:
We made orange juice from our tree:
We worked on Halloween costumes:
Then we got to cheer Ryder and Eden on as they both took home a win at their soccer games:
She has been working on her punting and she killed it this weekend!
I love our family so much.  Family time will always be the best time!
