Heading into the weekend...

Right now our Saturdays are all about soccer...
Last weekend was the picture day and kick-a-thon and I got to sit for an ENTIRE game with my favorite person...  This weekend we have our little buddy Hank hanging out with us and I know that it will make the weekend even better for our family!❤︎

Tiny Dance Teacher

When Kit got home from his backpacking trip, he jumped directly into being one of Eden's dance "students"...
I fall more in love with this man each moment...

National "Talk Like A Pirate" Day

Last Wednesday, Ryder told me that he needed a pirate hat or scarf for a school project.
I simply thought it was something that he was doing for his class.
Little did I know that September 19 is "National Talk Like a Pirate Day."
Later that day, we walked into our library to pick up some books and found our librarian dressed like this:
She shared that it was a day the library recognized and had activities, and reading and all sorts of fun.  I had NO idea that talking like a pirate had it's own special day, but we sure enjoyed it!

It must be Tuesday...

I wonder how many cups this day will hold...?

We believe in unicorns...

... and now we have proof!
Such a beautiful book!
We will have to plan some adventures to find these magical creatures...❤︎

He’s almost home!

He is on his way home from Colorado...
We have missed him so much!
It doesn't matter where he goes, we are always homesick for him until he comes back to us...❤︎

School picture WIN!

Last week, school picture day fell on my work day.  Kit is AMAZING at all the things he does and he can pretty much do everything that I do.  Normally, they have their routine and they are out the door with not even a second thought, but for picture day, Eden wanted to have sponge curlers like she had last year.  Kit said it would be no problem.

 Exhibit B:
Kit figured it out and look how amazing he did for his FIRST time doing her hair post sponge curlers:
Exhibit C:
I love having the team mate and partner that Kit is.  I can't imagine it without him...❤︎

backyard adventures

Since Kit was pulling out all of his backpacking stuff, the kids had decided over the weekend to set up a campsite in the backyard...
(Eden posing made me laugh out loud...)
They ate snickers as the sun went down.
It really was magical!
They played out there for hours, together...❤︎

Eden's "an all about me" poster

Eden turned in her first project for school in last Friday.
She was so excited about it!
I can't believe our little girl is a first grader...❤︎

Fridays are my favorite...

Yesterday, Kit headed to Colorado to meet up with his brother for a backpacking trip.  He has waited two years for this trip and I am so excited that he gets to go! So on our date day friday, which has become my favorite day of the week, Kit and I went on over a 4 mile hike with 500 mile inclines while he carried a pack weighing 35 pounds in the form of an unopened Costco laundry detergent and olive oil.
I miss him so much when he is gone, but I am so excited for him to have this long-awaited adventure.  Colorado, Kit is ready for you and please send him home safely!

ready for the weekend...

I can't wait to spend it with these favorites of mine...❤︎

Getting ready for camping...

Next week, Kit will be heading to Colorado with his brother for a backpacking trip.  In preparation, he made a hammock cover to help stay warm.
These are what they look like when you buy them at REI:
And it can be yours for $174.95.
He used this $20 down throw from Costco and an $8 grommet kit:
We have never used one before:
It was the easiest camping project that I have ever helped with...
He made it so he can cinch the ends to make it fit more or less snug. So for under $30, he is all set for getting great sleep on his trip!

teaching an old dog new tricks

As the school year has begun, I have enjoyed taking time to try things I haven't done before.
One of those things is teaching myself some macrame knots using you tube.  I really wanted to try to make a bunting banner for parties we host at our house.
It didn't turn out how I envisioned and there was a fair amount of "winging it" but I really enjoyed the methodical process. I will say it is easier for me to learn when someone shows me in person, which is how I learned basic knitting, but I look forward to trying new knots and ties and other small projects...❤︎

The gift of a meal...

We were recently given two meals through Hello Fresh as a thank you for Kit doing a BBQ for a party.  We have never gotten any thing like this and the kids were SO EXCITED about it!
We were able to choose the meals that we wanted and Kit chose these two recipes:
We really enjoyed not only cooking together, but also getting to eat these tasty meals as a family.
Having these little helpers made the  meal time prep even more special!❤︎

And so it begins...

Soccer started this last weekend.  Kit had so much fun coaching the Pink Fluffy Unicorns.  They did so well and Eden defended like such a champ!
Papa came to their games and they loved having his there!
Ryder did SO well at his game.  He was made the team captain and led the team so well!  He had his team's first goal of the game.  They had a great time and I am so proud of who this kid is and his character that is displayed every time he steps on any court or field.
We are excited for this is season and all that it holds!❤︎
