Time with Kit's First Wife...

Kit's best friend from college, the best man in our wedding, whom I affectionately refer to as Kit's first wife, who married an incredible woman that I love, came over last Friday night.
We ate and talked and lived life together.
 I adore them...
 Did I mention that we ate a lot!?
 Our babies love each other!
 "first wives" in the making:
Man, this family is an absolute favorite of ours and we can't image life without our Thrashes!

Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences 2019

This week we got to connect with our kids teachers. Other than being little talkers, (they get it from their Mia), we heard glowing reports and are so proud of these two munches.
I'm thankful to do this whole parenting thing with my husband:
We celebrated with Yogurtland:
 I still can't believe that we have a Fourth and Second grader!!!

my little loves and work messages...

When I am at work, I will check in in the morning to see how the morning is going.
These are my favorite responses:
Eden has taken to sending me texts:
 And then I love sending them the message that I'm coming home to kiss them and tuck them in...❤︎

tiny spectacles...

Recently, a few of Eden's friends at school have gotten glasses.  FOR WEEKS she has been begging us to get her a pair.  She does not need them, but just REALLY wanted them.
My approach: you don't need them, it's just one more thing to deal with.
Kit's approach: I bet we can find a pair.
So off to Claire's they went:
 And of course she got a case:
She is OVER THE MOON excited and I will admit, she looks pretty darn cute...❤︎

Her favorite homework buddy...

Oh my munch.  She is so creative and amazing and has incredible thoughts of things she wants to create.  The things that she comes up with, from stories, to painting or sketched drawings or 3D images or clothes for her dolls or accessories to wear or creating lyrics to songs... She is amazing!  So all that to say, my girl is not a fan of math.  It would be saying it mildly that it is not her favorite, but she is such a hard worker and she tries so hard and succeeds every time.  We are so proud of her.  One of the things that makes math homework a little easier is having her favorite homework buddy:
He talks her through things and is so patient.  He makes the hard moments SO much better!
We are thankful for our favorite homework buddy...❤︎

Our first time at the Hollywood Bowl!!!

This last Saturday, our sweet friends gave us tickets to the the Sing-along Sound of Music that was playing at the Hollywood Bowl!
None of us had ever been and it was an experience that we will never forget!
First we went to Trader Joes and stocked up on picnic stuff.  Then we headed to the grounds of the Hollywood Bowl museum and ate our goodies and played games.
 Then it was time for the show:
They had a costume contest hosted by Melissa Peterman and it was so fun to watch the creativity!
Also the hollywood sign was a pretty backdrop in the distance...
 To hear a place, filled with people, singing such iconic songs that I have grown up with, and seeing my kids experience a movie that they love in such a unique and magical way was just incredible!
 There is no way to articulate how sweet and magical the night was and I am so excited that we got to experience it as a family!

finding sweet treasures...

The other day we watched the Disney version of "Alice in Wonderland".  My kids did not know that is was based on a famous book.  We happen to have my mom's childhood copy.
Inside my mom had signed it every few years:
Her first signature was when she was nine years old, the same age that Ryder is now and we thought that was such a special treasure...

In other news...

...Eden learned how to braid:
So if you have hair and you stand still long enough in her presence, you WILL end up looking even more awesome...❤︎

just because

When Kit is gone, I feel the need to step into the role of the "Yes" parent.  Kit and I are a team that balance each other and when the parent that is known to be "MORE FUN" is out of town, the B team jumps in.  So things like ice cream before dinner happen:
I shouldn't be surprised that she gets wired...
 And then texts like this ensue to their daddy...
We do our best and we celebrate that the LEGITIMATE A team is back!

He's home...

Kit got home from a four day work trip in Charlotte...
We missed him terribly...
How we started our mornings while he was gone:
Each morning our kids would come in at the crack of dawn, as though they were just double checking that he was really gone.  I get horrible insomnia when Kit is away and getting to start each day with our babies made my heart so happy, even if I was pretty exhausted when they would get there...
~~~~~~~~~~~
Life with Kit gone is hard because life with him home is SO SO good.  Kit, your absence creates a void that only you can fill.  There is only one you and we love that you are ours!
New reads for the kids...
Eden found a series that she is loving. It has been harder for us to find books that not only build her confidence with reading, but ones that she also enjoys.
These have been such a gift!
And for Ryder:
He is loving these books that he was introduced to by his Papa.
These two LOVE history and these books are perfect!
Fridays are for us...
Fridays are for our date days.  Recently we are staying pretty local, just relaxing and enjoying the time together close to home.
It really doesn't matter where we go, as long as he is my view...
I will say that the Mexican food isn't a bad view either...❤︎
Kit, thank you for all the ways that you love me, how you always fight for me, and how you make life SO SO good!
First Wednesday
At our church, our upper elementary kids (4th and 5th grades) have an incredibly fun evening on the first Wednesday of the month.  If you grew up in church, it's kind of like youth group.
He. LOVED. IT!
He is such a leader and is all about having fun and then talking about Jesus.  I am incredibly thankful for our church and all of the environments that they create for these kiddos to fall in love with Jesus!
Crossing bridges and tiny brownies...
This last Sunday, Eden had her Bridging ceremony for Girl Scouts.  She went from a Daisy to a Brownie and had the best time with her troop!
 We loved getting to be there with her and her friends!
Time with Our Grandi and Monkey Papa!
This last weekend, our Grandi and Monkey Papa came to spend the weekend.  It is always SO fun to have them with us!
 We went to a fun dinner at special place:
 RIBS!
 Grandi brought a pillow craft to make with the kids:
 They loved it!
 We made a special dinner to eat after a soccer game to also celebrate the engagement of our Ethan and Dani:
 Also the day ended with Ethan asking Kit to perform their wedding ceremony!!!!
It was the perfect end to the weekend!
