A Birthday Sleep Over... Quarantine Style...

We had planned for Ryder's 10th birthday that he would have a sleep over with his best buddies, and that they would go somewhere like K1 racing or Rock and Jump.  There was going to probably be pizza or In-n-Out, too much candy, a movie night, and no sleep.  Well, things changed, and we just rolled with it...
Also, Kit, Eden and I can be SUPER fun to be around, so I was not about to count us out for a fun evening! (Lets be honest, Kit and Eden are WAY more fun, but I'm ok with that...❤︎)
We started the day with his birthday doughnuts, because our favorite doughnut spot has a drive through!
I just can't believe this kid is 10...
Then it was school time and his class sang to him:
Then he had decided that he wanted to watch "Harry Potter and the Chamber is Secrets" for his movie night.  We have a rule that we have to read the books first before we see the movie,  so we read over 200 pages to make sure that we finished it in time...
Then his teacher surprised him with a birthday sign at our driveway.   We were so excited that we didn't get one picture of her visit, but she sent this to us after...
Then we headed to In-N-Out for burgers and shakes...
Ryder's youth group did a Zoom call to wish him a happy birthday:
We finished the book and got ready to cook Ryder's birthday dinner: He requested steak, artichokes, and bread.
Then we sat and watched a movie, complied of videos from friends and family sending Ryder birthday wishes, songs, skits, top tens and touching messages of love, all from a distance.  It filled his heart!  I can't tell you what this meant to him...
Then he opened presents.  The presents this year included: a gift card from a friend, a hammock for camping, legos and a 3-d atlas from Grandi and Monkey Papa, a promise to get his hunter safety license once the quarantine is over, and a buck knife that is just like his grandpa Pierce and his dad.
Then we cuddled up and watched the movie and ate hot chocolate chip cookies!
We all read slept in the living room, after going to bed after midnight...
It was such a sweet birthday that I will never forget.. What a joy that we got to spend it together and make this special memory.  I love this family of mine!
