Good Friday 2016

Last Friday was Good Friday.  Our church did it a little differently this year.  Instead of meeting at church all together, we met as life groups in our homes.
We read the story of the crucifixion from the Message, then we had everyone draw things that God has done for them or things that the story brought up for them.
Our kids shared such a beautiful things.
Ryder drew a picture of himself lying in bed talking to Jesus.  That he knows he is never alone and he never has to be afraid because he knows Jesus is with him.
Eden shared that she knows he is always with her and that she doesn't have to be afraid of anything...
Then we took communion as a family. We talked about the symbolism.  We talked about the sacrifice and His love for us.  We talked about remembering...
Then we closed that time with a blessing.
Then we moved to our treat for the evening: "tomb rolls".
You place a marshmallow in crescent roll dough, talking about how Jesus was placed in the tomb.
Then you use cinnamon and sugar and butter to cover the roll and bake them.  When they are done baking, the marshmallow is gone and the "tomb" is empty.
It was a beautiful evening...
