The light shines in the darkness...

This last Saturday there was a candle light vigil in honor of Jack, then on Monday, the kids and I spent Veterans day with the Cleary's.
At each point, the goal was simply to be together.  There were projects like going through Jack's clothes, or sorting through pictures for photo folders, or bringing in meals to feed this family that we love.  Mostly, it was just to be.  We cried together, we ate together, we laughed at Jack stories...  It was SO good to be together...

In all of it, there is Hope and Peace in the grieving.  God has been and is good and faithful.  We know that the Presence of Jesus and His Spirit are moving.  On this side of heaven, however, it feels so wrong to watch our friends prepare to bury their 8 year old son.

The kids loved being with our family friends.  I asked the kids how it was to be at these different "events" without Jack, and Ryder responded, "It felt like something was really missing" and Eden followed it with "It's like missing a piece to your favorite puzzle."
