November books

Here are the books I read in November:

Here’s a brief synopsis of The Wedding People by Alison Espach: I really liked the story and how it all unfolded!

Phoebe Stone arrives at the luxurious Cornwall Inn in Newport, Rhode Island, dressed for indulgence—but not in the way others expect. Rather than being a guest at the week-long extravagant wedding unfolding around her, she’s booked the stay alone, without luggage, in a last attempt at self-destruction following personal and professional collapse.

When the bride, Lila, mistakes Phoebe for part of the wedding party, a surprising connection forms between the two women. Lila, controlling and perfection-oriented in her wedding planning, becomes both confidante and unexpected savior to Phoebe as the weekend’s festivities proceed. Phoebe, in turn, is forced out of isolation and into the messy business of life, choice, and change.

The novel blends humour and pain, exploring themes of loss, identity, grief, and reinvention. What begins as a woman’s final indulgence transforms into a fresh start—via friendships forged in unlikely places and the chance encounters that reroute our lives.

I have a couple of books that I reread  every year or two and this is one of them. It recalibrates my thoughts and focus in a much needed way in a world and schedule that is SO full. It reminds me what is important and necessary due my heart and soul and relationship with Jesus. Comer is such a great writer and story teller so even as he gives statistics and research studies, it’s woven with personal stories and tools to turn your heart towards Jesus at a different pace… I strongly recommend it!

Thanksgiving

From our family to yours, we hope that you have a very Happy Thanksgiving, surrounded with people you love.

Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.

spoiled…

Before we headed to Mammoth, we’d had some  big, full weeks, so Kit decided to make Eden and I a fancy pasta dinner… We are the luckiest!

33rd MUN conference

This lady weekend, Ryder participated as his high school hosted the 33rd annual Model United Nations conference. His role was the Under Director General of Logistics and he did such a great job trouble shooting, navigating leading difficult people situations and helping to make sure everyone had what they needed. He absolutely killed it!

He gets to do it with his best friends…

I got to volunteer for a chunk of one of the days and watch him in action and I loved it.

We are so proud of this kid!

time away

Friends of ours have a cabin in Mammoth that they are sharing with us for the week of Thanksgiving. The kids and I have never been and Kit has only been twice.

We can’t wait for this family adventure for the holiday!

It finally happened…

On Wednesday, Ryder got his braces off! I was SO happy for him!

Before:

Signing the wall that he was done!
His smile got even brighter… We’re just so happy for him!

her happy place…

When she gets free time, this is where she will ask to go: Barnes and Noble for the win!

waiting room…

A tiny back story: We don’t decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving.  We have this weird time when our few Halloween decorations are down, but Fall decorations are still up, so things like our skeletons will sit out in our garage until we can switch everything over to Christmas. Call it  a side effect of being a post partum nurse, but I created this scene and waited for my family to notice:

I ended up having to message my family to hurry to the garage because she was having a baby. I can’t help myself… My family was not phased…

beast mode…

This last weekend, Eden had a killer game and was an absolute BEAST as a goalie while it POURED rain and they brought home the win!

However, the game did result in a fracture at the base of her thumb… We spent a chunk of Sunday in urgent care, getting x-rays, getting temporary braces and splints, then submitting requests to see an orthopedist this week.
She is one tough cookie…

surprise date…

Life has been very full, filling his last few weekends and days off, so Kit took a surprise comp day last Wednesday and we had so much fun… We hiked Peter’s Canyon, went to Costco, then grabbed burgers.

It was a really sweet surprise day together. I have really missed time together!

time together…

The kids got to have some time together while we were away on our retreat…

I absolutely love their friendship and how each year it continues to deepen and grow!

Elder Retreat 2025

This last weekend we went on our church’s annual elder retreat for prayer, planning, strategizing as we collectively listen and seek Jesus as we look ahead to what He has at our church. We were in Fallbrook at a beautiful home owned by a Rockharbor family that they have decided to use as a retreat center.

It’s a beautiful time to be a part of… I love these people so much!

full moon…

Last week we had a full moon the night before I worked and walking in, it lit up our little hospital:

So pretty, we’ve  if you know it’s going to be a little nutty on the unit.😂

It’s starting…

 And so it begins…

Celebrating our girl…

Last week we got to celebrate our girl as she was celebrated for excellence in physical education. One of the reasons that her teacher celebrated her is how she partners with the some of the kiddos in her class with disabilities that absolutely LOVE her and listen to her. She’s able to coach and lead and it means so much.

My heart us so proud…

I’m so proud…

I’m so proud of this kid. Before every game, he prays over the game, his attitude and sportsmanship, his team mates, for safety and that God would be glorified by his time in the field… Our friend grabbed this photo in his last game. It’s such an honor to be his mom!

fall days…

These days are getting cooler and we are determined to celebrate Fall before Christmas arrives, so here’s what the days are filled with: puzzles, soups and chilis, baking, snuggling with bunnies, scrapbooking and junk journaling with favorite scriptures, quotes, lyrics, and photos…❤️
