September book

Here is the book I read for the month of September. Just one this month…

I started off with a classic that Ryder will be reading this year in high school.  I actually used my copy that I used in high school.  I love this classic for so many reasons.  I wonder if Harper Lee thought that it would be as significant to the world as it has been when she wrote it in 1960. I love the book for so many reasons, but I think it's the characters that she develops throughout the pages that are my favorite.  Atticus Finch and Scout are  probably two of my all-time favorite fictional characters.  The fight for justice and humanity and being a person of character was so powerful to me when I first read it as a freshmen, I love that Ryder will have this story under his belt as well.

Arizona broke our hearts…

Eden and I were supposed to be heading to Arizona today for a soccer game tomorrow morning. However, we just got news that games were cancelled due to high temperatures so our trip was postponed… So here we are, sad to miss our girl time.

Tonight is Ryder’s homecoming dance, so we are excited to be there to send him off!

Work days…

I ended up being on standby call today. So physically I’m home but mentally I’m here:

He’s coming home!

After two weeks, our Kit is coming home today! He has sent us some photos and videos of his trip with his brother Andrew and our college friend Nate!

He had a wonderful time making amazing memories in Wyoming… Until next time!

Homecoming game…

Ryder’s school had their homecoming football game this last Saturday. As Ryder was heading out, he gave me a hug and I realized how tall my oldest is getting!

I think the combination of it being a homecoming game, and gearing up for his homecoming dance next week, and seeing how tall he’s getting… It all has me feeling all the feelings…

loaded hash browns

On Saturday I had an unexpected day off with the kids so we made loaded hash browns for a special breakfast together.

They were amazing! We can’t wait to make them when Kit gets home.

This and that…

Kit has been gone for a little over a week, so here is a little of this and that that has filled our days…

We went to the car wash and you would have thought Eden and I were on a Disneyland ride:

We made a recipe for loaded sweet potato skins from Half Baked Harvest: So Good!

We also made a recipe we found for banana bread chocolate chip cookies! Another huge win!

I have also been doing lots of gardening and in addition to eating and cooking with our tomatoes, our dahlias have been blooming!
Eden played around with some sewing:
Have I mentioned how much driving we do?
I do feel like it has been lots of meal prep for dinner and before and after practices and games and things I can make  to take with us…
I work out every morning with tiny buddies that can not leave my hair alone!
I have been declutterring and organizing which has led to some fun redecorating of some spaces. Here is a spot we changed from play dough and markers to photo book storage:
The kids have had LOTS of soccer practice. From Ryder doing his high school team and club and Eden doing club and additional goalie training, we are at the field a lot, so I use the time to walk laps:

So here we are, doing all the things… missing our guy but knowing he’s having an amazing time!

A first…

Eden and I got some under eye masks. She was so excited to do them with me. Girl time!

It was my first time using them and I must say I really enjoyed doing them with my girl!

They are in the best hands…

The kids had dentist appointments with in 24 hours of each other. I had to document the deja vu we were all feeling.

I’m so grateful how well they (and their teeth) are cared for!

a weekend of soccer…

The season has started for both kids club teams and we are running with it! This last weekend they had 3 games in 2 days, which wasn’t too bad but man did I feel like we were in the car a lot! They cheered each other on and encouraged each other before and after the games. For that, I am so grateful! We came away with a win, a loss, and a tie.

Soccer season, we are ready for you!

Go Pats! Go Strikers!

Friday night…

When Kit travels, I would say that Fridays are when we miss him the most. It’s our date day, Kit takes Eden for after school Boba dates, no one has practice so we make dinner together and have movie nights. This last Friday was his first full day gone so we made the best while missing him. Burger stop, Gladiator, and bunny time was on the docket.
