School picture WIN!

Last week, school picture day fell on my work day.  Kit is AMAZING at all the things he does and he can pretty much do everything that I do.  Normally, they have their routine and they are out the door with not even a second thought, but for picture day, Eden wanted to have sponge curlers like she had last year.  Kit said it would be no problem.

Kit figured it out and look how amazing he did for his FIRST time doing her hair post sponge curlers:

I love having the team mate and partner that Kit is.  I can't imagine it without him...❤︎

backyard adventures

Since Kit was pulling out all of his backpacking stuff, the kids had decided over the weekend to set up a campsite in the backyard...
(Eden posing made me laugh out loud...)
They ate snickers as the sun went down.
It really was magical!
They played out there for hours, together...❤︎

Eden's "an all about me" poster

Eden turned in her first project for school in last Friday.
She was so excited about it!
I can't believe our little girl is a first grader...❤︎

Fridays are my favorite...

Yesterday, Kit headed to Colorado to meet up with his brother for a backpacking trip.  He has waited two years for this trip and I am so excited that he gets to go! So on our date day friday, which has become my favorite day of the week, Kit and I went on over a 4 mile hike with 500 mile inclines while he carried a pack weighing 35 pounds in the form of an unopened Costco laundry detergent and olive oil.
I miss him so much when he is gone, but I am so excited for him to have this long-awaited adventure.  Colorado, Kit is ready for you and please send him home safely!

Getting ready for camping...

Next week, Kit will be heading to Colorado with his brother for a backpacking trip.  In preparation, he made a hammock cover to help stay warm.
These are what they look like when you buy them at REI:
And it can be yours for $174.95.
He used this $20 down throw from Costco and an $8 grommet kit:
We have never used one before:
It was the easiest camping project that I have ever helped with...
He made it so he can cinch the ends to make it fit more or less snug. So for under $30, he is all set for getting great sleep on his trip!

teaching an old dog new tricks

As the school year has begun, I have enjoyed taking time to try things I haven't done before.
One of those things is teaching myself some macrame knots using you tube.  I really wanted to try to make a bunting banner for parties we host at our house.
It didn't turn out how I envisioned and there was a fair amount of "winging it" but I really enjoyed the methodical process. I will say it is easier for me to learn when someone shows me in person, which is how I learned basic knitting, but I look forward to trying new knots and ties and other small projects...❤︎
