November book

Here is the book that I got to read this month.

This book was given to Kit a couple of months ago and I stole it and read it and LOVED it. Here is the best summation I found online:

Will Guidara was twenty-six when he took the helm of Eleven Madison Park, a struggling two-star brasserie that had never quite lived up to its majestic room. Eleven years later, EMP was named the best restaurant in the world.
How did Guidara pull off this unprecedented transformation? Radical reinvention, a true partnership between the kitchen and the dining room—and memorable, over-the-top, bespoke hospitality. Guidara’s team surprised a family who had never seen snow with a magical sledding trip to Central Park after their dinner; they filled a private dining room with sand, complete with mai-tais and beach chairs, to console a couple with a cancelled vacation. And his hospitality extended beyond those dining at the restaurant to his own team, who learned to deliver praise and criticism with intention; why the answer to some of the most pernicious business dilemmas is to give more—not less; and the magic that can happen when a busser starts thinking like an owner.
Today, every business can choose to be a hospitality business—and we can all transform ordinary transactions into extraordinary experiences. Featuring sparkling stories of his journey through restaurants, with the industry’s most famous players like Daniel Boulud and Danny Meyer, Guidara urges us all to find the magic in what we do—for ourselves, the people we work with, and the people we serve.

Thanksgiving week is here!

We had our Italian family holiday yesterday and we have family coming into town to stay for Thanksgiving. So many things are coming so we are taking this week each day at a time. I can’t wait to update it all here…

Boba dates…

Every Friday Kit takes Eden for Boba. They both love it so much. He always sends me photos of her… Why is my baby looking so grown up…?

getting lost…

I spent a couple hours this week getting lost in thrift and antique shops in old town Orange! I loved just looking at all the unique, old stuff!

There was Christmas music playing.  Normally I’m not into it before Thanksgiving, but it was really nice to
listen to it while walking through isles of nostalgic vintage holiday decorations.

Pizza night!

Ryder requested to have a pizza party movie night with a few friends, followed by s’mores by the fire pit. There was a full moon and it was a chilly evening. It was such a fun night!

They had so much fun!

Breaking it down!

We spent a few nights last week processing Ryder’s elk. It was a family affair for sure!

We have a freezer full of meat!

a proud moment

This weekend we mounted Ryder’s Wyoming elk in our house!

We had been given antlers that I painted white, so this was the before:

And here was Ryder’s elk:

We are so excited with how it came out!

A first

I had a small event at church where I wanted to actually dress up so Eden helped me. It was the first time SHE did MY hair…

She did my makeup too!

Halloween 2024

We had such a sweet halloween with friends! The guys had just gotten back from their hunting trip so they had to jump right in! We eat pizza and hang out and then head to trick or treat in our neighborhood. Eden helped me with set up, she’s such a party planner!

Eden’s candy salad was a huge hit!

It was such a sweet evening with our friends…
Also, a few days before Halloween, Eden’s team had a costume themed practice: SO SWEET!
