Rae's Fall Fun List 2011

I have been thinking of some fun things that we want to do this fall, over the next few months, especially now that Ryder is a little bit older and can enjoy things better than last year. I am getting so excited about making special memories with our family.

Go to Live Oak Pumpkin Patch
Carve a Pumpkin
Hot Cider
Trick-or-Treat
Trip to Oak Glen
Knit Pumpkin Beanie for Ryder
Bake Pumpkin Seeds
Corn Maze
Hay Ride

Disneyland to see Decorations
Pumpkin Cookies with Sauce
Starbucks for Flavored holiday Coffee
Plan over night with Kit
Make Chili on a Cool Evening

We can't wait to share our adventures with you!

getting carded

Yesterday we walked to our public library and got Ryder his first library card!
It's such a silly thing, but I am really excited about it...
We can't wait to start checking out books and going to the Wednesday toddler reading time...
Then we headed to our new favorite park for lunch, which just happens to be right next to our library. It was a great day!
note: I am noticing a trend, when I walk into a new place that has a high counter, Ryder thinks one of two things
(because you can see it on his face):
1. "This must be my doctor's new office, good God, they are going to strip me down, ask me to stand on a scale, put things in my ears and mouth and want to vaccinate me..."
2. "Mom, you are going to drop me off here aren't you... Don't lie woman, you are going to leave, aren't you, don't try to deny it..."

hanging out with family...

A few days ago we met up with Kit's parents at Disneyland and had such great time! Ryder loves his grandparents and any time we get to be with them is very special. I mean who needs Disneyland when you have the grandparents that Ryder has...
Eric and Diane-
We love being with you guys! Thank you for including us on your Disney day.
Ps, thank you so much for the ears!
We love them...

wedding reception planning part 2

I have been trying to plug away at our friends California wedding reception every week or so so that I can get more done over the next few months. So after getting a jump start here, I tackled another project this week.

At our friends wedding, they had paper origami hanging all over the reception, penguins, hearts, cranes...
So I have been trying to think of a way to display them. They still haven't nailed down a venue so I have been planning for decorations that can be moved and aren't dependent on a certain place...

So I am working on a display using galvanized pots filled with branches that I can hang the origami on. I am hoping that it comes together like I have envisioned it in my mind. I am really excited to bring this element from their wedding reception to their celebration in December.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Trick or Treat

I can't wait to show you what Ryder will be for Halloween. I don't want to tell you, I want to show you... So, since we are planning to dress him up, I figured that we should come up with a bag for some of his loot. (I am sure that he will have no idea what trick or treating looks like, but I wanted to be prepared...)

So I used these letter stencils from when I had embellished some burp cloths for Ryder, a $1 bag from Michaels, and some black fabric paint:
And this is what I came up with:
While I did that, Ryder played with his bubble maker.
He had a great time getting all soapy and I had fun doing a little crafting...

Little man, you are 18 months old today and I just can't believe how fast time goes. It does not feel that long ago that you were born and now here you are, with the funniest sense of humor, your relational spirit and addiction to your dad. You have a smile that melts our hearts and we are so honored to be your parents.
We couldn't love you more and we look forward to many years of watching you grow...

Welcome!

I pulled out our front door fall decorations and it is really feeling like we have entered the holiday season. I never think about decorating outside, but the front door is how people enter our house, and the first thing people see.
So Ryder helped me get the porch ready for our little trick or treaters.
We have a plan to take Ryder to our favorite pumpkin patch in a few weeks so I am sure that we will be adding pumpkins later in the month. We can't wait to have you over! Know that you are always welcome at our house!

Fall at Disneyland

We went to Disneyland on Sunday night after Kit got home from Toronto and we had a really good time as a family. We pushed his afternoon nap so that he woke up later and then we headed over for dinner and fireworks. Ryder has never been to Disneyland at night and watching his face get so excited about all the light was priceless! We try to tackle a "first" each time we go to Disneyland so the ones that we did on this trip were the fireworks and the Jungle Cruise. He loved both! (I think just being with his dad made the evening even more special!)
Getting ready for fireworks:
