After Oxnard, we spent a week in Shaver Lake. Last time we were here was over Labor Day and we had been evacuated in the Creek Fire. It was SO GOOD to see it again.
After we arrive and unpack, we always walk down to the pond and to our favorite meadow. This time we added a little cabin that is original to the area and we aways see if it is still standing.
We spent our first day at a new part of Dinkey Creek that we had not been to before. We really enjoyed it, but by the time we left, there were more people than we are used to from other ares that we like to go.
We spent a day hiking down to "The Burn" and I think we all agreed that this is one of our favorite spots.
It's one of Ryder's favorite places to fish:
And he always does well here:
The natural water slides and pools are our favorite:
Always fishing:
While they fish, I get time with my girl...
We love this place so much and it is such a highlight every year!
Even the hike out, which is primarily uphill is just gorgeous...
We had a first! We went horseback riding! The kids had never done it before and they LOVED IT! I think that it will be added to our traditions.
We had the BEST time and we will be doing it again!
We headed to the museum to check out their new display on the Creek Fire:
We spent an evening at a favorite litle spot on Dinkey for more fishing...
Just floating with my girl...
We spent a day at the lake. There is a spot that we drive to where you can literally drive up on to the beach and set up for the day... It makes everything so convenient!
My little paddle boarding baby...
I can't tell you how much we love it up here!
And then the tradition of Hungry Hut for dinner!
One morning, the boys opted to leave super early to try a new fishing spot.
Eden and I opted to walk to our favorite meadow to pick wild flowers.
We spent our last evening heading back to the lake to grill on the beach and enjoy the sun going down...
Ryder was teaching Eden to fish...
On the way home we saw three bucks. Kit said they were the biggest that he had ever seen in the area.
The time went so fast. We are so thankful for the time that we get to be together and the memories that we get to make as a family. I love that our kids love this place as much as we do and I am so thankful that we get to watch our kids grow in such an incredible place...
I just can't...
Until next time Shaver!
