This is our kitchen.
It's big and open and has great light and views of the backyard, living room, and playroom. We have plans for it in the future, but for now, we're just adding little things here and there to make it feel more like "us".
When we bought our house, we knew that we wanted a place that we could open to friends and family, that we could share with people we love. Our hope and prayer was that our home would be a place where our community would come together. So much of this move has been to choose community and family and so we want to be intentional with what our house communicates to those that come through the door.
So for our kitchen, we choose the word "gather" to place above the window. We have been going around and around about what the word would be made out of and how we would hang it.
I have always loved these zinc letters from Anthropologie:
The problem is if I wanted to spell a six letter word, it would cost about $108. That's just not in the budget. So guess how excited I was when I saw these galvanized letters at Michaels:
