quiet mornings…

I love my quiet morning walks when everyone is just waking up, it’s nice and cool and all I hear are the birds…

It’s a love/hate relationship

Every year, I do my annual breast cancer screening, and every year, I absolutely hate it. HOWEVER, I love that screening can save lives, so here we are, a love/hate relationship.

while the kids were away…

Here are some photos from while the kids were away at camp: dates with Kit, gardening,  crafting, doctors appointments, morning walks, thrifting, movie nights, and having friends over for the world cup…

Weekend snap shots...

A low key weekend and a few snapshots of our shenanigans: We kicked off the weekend with a win for Ryder's high school team.  Kit baked bread to go with our favorite soup, we snuggled our bunnies, Kit did a memorial service out on a boat for a friend's dad from church, and we made the viral dumping bake from Trader Joe's for the second time and we loved it.  Sunday is always a day at church and then napping.  We had a really sweet weekend and are ready for the week ahead!

mlk day

Today we remember and celebrate an incredible human being. Of the incredible words and works he shared with the world, this is probably one of my favorite quotes:

I look at the world we are in now and I reread his “I have a dream” speech and I wanted to weep, one with how broken it is, and one for hope of wholeness and not giving up that these big dreams can become realities…

23 years

Yesterday on January 4, we celebrated 23 years of marriage… We are more in love with each other today than we ever thought possible the day we got married… I’m so grateful for this man and the life we are allowed to live together!

Christmas snippets…

I have to remind myself that this season is full and not just busy. To me, full associates with joy and busy associates with stress and overwhelming thoughts. I’m really trying to practice intentional thinking… So here we’re some moments recently of pause…

Thanksgiving

From our family to yours, we hope that you have a very Happy Thanksgiving, surrounded with people you love.

Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.

where it started…

We spend an unbelievable amount of time with soccer, between trainings, practices and games for 3 teams. Everyone once in awhile I love looking at where it started:

Kit coaching Ryder when he was six and Kit’s tiny assistant coach: We gave her a bell because that was way less obnoxious than the whistle he gave her first…

Then he coached Eden when she was a tiny munch:
I look at them now and can’t believe how far we’ve come…
I love remembering where it all started…

27 years together ..,

Today is the anniversary of Kit asking me to be his girlfriend, making this 27 years together.

I get teased a lot about how nostalgic I am, but the truth is, if we didn’t have these starts to our love story, we wouldn’t get to be living the pages and chapters we are now. Our story is my favorite…

quiet time…

Our family is reading through the bible, chronologically with the plan to finish in a year. We started at the start of the school year. It’s been sweet to do it through the bible app where we can read it or listen and then make notes to each other. Here is a favorite spot to take my quiet time:

It’s a sweet place to unpack scripture and listen to bible scriptures…

Quiet…

On my days off, I absolutely love being home while the kids are at school. I have been characterized as a “social introvert” where I love people but fill my cup by being alone. It feels very accurate! Here are some favorite things I’ve been enjoying:

Scrapbooking:

Crafting:

Drawing:

Arranging milk glass collections with lichen  from the cabin:

Taking walks in our neighborhood:

These moments of quiet are so special to me and I absolutely love them so much!
