Our Shaver Lake...

Oh friends, this was a completely different weekend than we had planned..  We headed to Shaver Lake early on September 4.  We love this place so much...

And yes, we brought our bunny, because we are those people now...
We got there and settled in to getting the kids in school mode:
I love this place so much...
After the kids were finished with school and our Grandi and Monkey Papa had gotten there, WE played games and then we headed to Dinkey creek to swim and fish...
We take games very seriously...
These places are so special to us...
Games before dinner is always a good idea...
The next day we heard that there was a small fire up by Huntington Lake, but that they were closing local areas to keep hikers and campers safe.  We headed to a hike called "The Burn", where Kit and Ryder backpack for their birthday trips...
Goggles are everything better...
Jumping in...
I took too long, they gave up on getting a photo of me...
I love this place so much!
Catching a tiny one...
Getting ready to hike out... And trying to get a picture where everyone is looking... Sheesh...
When we got back into town, the fire was spreading and the cabin didn't have power.  It was a little hazy, but not smokey yet... So we BBQed and played games by candlelight.  We viewed it as an adventure that would blow over...  On our way home we saw deer in our favorite meadow near our cabin!
On Sunday, we woke up to a smoke filled cabin and an emergency evacuation order.
We quickly packed up our things, grabbed a few keepsakes and headed to Santa Maria to be with family.  The last time that we saw our cabin was on September 7 and it was surrounded by a cloud of ash.  We won't know how bad damage is until we see it in person.  We continue to watch and follow the fires closely.
Our beloved cabin, 44 years worth of memories.  We pray that we get to see it again...

We are praying for the 800+ first responders, firefighters, as well as volunteers and families that are responding to this crisis. People have lost their homes and livelihoods and our hearts and prayers are with them.
