Setting up our nativity scene is always a really special part of our holiday preparation. We carve out special time to do it and it really feels like it sets our trajectory for the Christmas season to be focused on Jesus' birth. The kids were really into it this year. We made an entire evening of it after Kit got home from work:
W made these INCREDIBLE BLT's for dinner, with brie left over from our Raclette party:
We read the Christmas story from either the Jesus Storybook Bible or the Jesus Calling Bible Storybook. It's sweet to watch their faces as they hear the story:
Then we set it all up and ask the kids who each person was and their part in Jesus' story:
That little ham bone Eden...
The nativity set belonged to my dad's parents and it has a light and a music box that plays Silent Night!
I keep seeing her sitting and looking at it...Especially baby Jesus, or "Baby God" as she likes to refer to him! It's really such a favorite part of our holiday traditions!
Then the kids did baths and we made hot cocoa with marshmallows and watched Elf. It was a really fun evening!
