Memorial Day

Today, we take time to remember the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. Military, protecting our families, protecting our freedom.  Everyday, we live into the fullness of that freedom that has come at such a cost and sacrifice.  We are so incredibly grateful for those sacrifices and for those that continue to serve so that we can thrive, safely, together.

We had out first fire pit of the season and it was so nice.

Roasting marshmallows is always a treat!

 It feels like summer, and we are so ready for it!

Sundays look different...

This last weekend I was reminded how different Sundays have looked since we have been in quarantine.  I'll look over and see moments like this:

We miss our church family,  but God has used this time for such sweet moments, and for that, I am so grateful!

A special homework assignment

Last week, Eden's homework included a journal for her to do regarding life during Covid-19.  I have to say, this was my favorite assignment.  We loved working on it as a family.

 Hands down, our favorite page was the handprint page:

  We are definitely living through history and this was a sweet way for our second grader to document it!

Just like his dad...

We take two walks each day, and when we do that, both kids ride their bikes.  Ryder has particularly been enjoying all the trivia about the Tour de France and how you train for rides.  He and Eden have taken to going off jumps, ramps, stairs... really anything that allows then to get air...

Anyway, Ryder came in the other day wearing Kit's cycling stuff:

He was flushed from over 25 jumps and bike sprints to get the speed that he wanted.  He is convinced that even though his dad's stuff isn't the newest, or "latest and greatest", to Ryder, his dad's stuff will always be the best stuff...

It felt like the good old days...

This last Friday, the kid's had spirit day where they were to wear their uniforms:

It was surreal to see them in something that they usually wear five days a week, but haven't worn since mid March...We are officially on the home stretch for school.  We have a little less than two weeks and we are determined to cross that finish line as hard as we can.

Kitchen updates!

We have been working on a very special project in our kitchen and we are so excited to share how it came out!

First, when we moved into our house in 2014, our kitchen looked like this:

When we moved in, we replaced the floor and appliances, and then in 2017, we painted the cabinets:

The big thing left to do was to replace the counter tops and then adda backsplash.

Which also meant a switch out for our sink and faucet.  Here is what we chose:

And the cutest contractor I have ever laid eyes on!

Day one:

Day 2:
Quartz counter install and window was cased.

After the counters were installed the guys hooked up the plumbing for the sink, Reverse Osmosis, and garbage disposal:

The counter was extended for these two to sit more comfortably.

They approved:

 

 

Day three:
We tiled. A lot.

Then we set the grout:

There is no way to tell you how much we love how everything came out. I cried.  I love it so SO much!

He'd measure, I'd cut the tile, and he would lay it out.  He ran the plumbing and had everything hooked up while I handed him tools.  He'd case the window, and I would get things ready for him to paint.  He'd grout, and I'd follow with wiping the excess off the tile.He's replace the electrical boxes and I'd make sure nothing was live.  

I fell more in love with this man through the project and I am SO thankful that we were able to do it together!
