Oxnard 2014

We are back!  We had a really great time of being with family and we just love the week each year that we get to be together...
Time at the beach:
 Making sand cakes...
 Hours of enjoyment...
 My reading for the week:
 Ryder's first wetsuit:
They just love each other so much...
Oh goodness, I can't look at this picture with out wanting to get a Q tip...
Cousins are just the best!
The jacuzzi time after the cold ocean water was always a treat for the kiddos:
There was surf fishing:
One evening, my guys went out together:
 This was their view:
They came back and we sat on our rooftop and watched the sun finally go down:
We would go on adventure walks in the evening on the beach and look for shells and sand crabs and watch the kiddos run to "avoid" the water, inevitably getting soaked:
My nephew xander is 11 years old and has the HARDEST time taking "normal" photos, so we did a funny one in his honor:
One day we headed to the Santa Barbara Zoo for the day:
The cardboard sliding hill:
(Always a favorite.  Eden was fearless. Good Lord...)
When the cardboard got old, she used her cousin.
Very inventive...
Our Little Butterfly:
Seeing all there is to see...
There was a show with dinosaurs and Ryder was pretty sure they were real.  He kept his distance until he was sure:
Then Xander went up with him... He felt very brave!
Eden watched from the comfort of her favorite lap:
It was faun adventure and we love the tradition of bringing a picnic from Trader Joe's and taking our time throughout the zoo.  A definite highlight for our family!
We stopped at Padaro Beach Grill in Carpenteria on the way home:
The california bruger is my current favorite:
There was lots of bike riding during the week.  My niece Ruby learned to ride her bike without training wheels and we were so proud of her:
I love how Ryder is looking at his cousin with such admiration:
Eden is ready for a two wheeler.  Her balance is phenomenal.  She gets it from her dad♥.
Rdyer pretty much kept up with his cousins...
He was not going to get left behind:
Our favorite place to bike is to Pirate Park:
 "Higher, Daddy, Higher!!!"
Her first time on a big kid swing.
 The guys:
There was lots of games, meals, laughing, long talks, reading, movies, and just being together.  We look forward to this trip every year and we already have it booked for next year.
We look forward to this trip every year and we already have it booked for next year.
(Kit got my cold while we were on the trip.  It's just mean to get sick on your vacation!  He was such a trooper.)

ps: On august 8, the friday that we got back, eden went pee on the toilet after Ryder went.  We are currently gearing up for potty training, I think... Lord help us!

breathing room

It has been a rough couple of days:
Kit had gone on an over night retreat for work, and I have been trying to get over a sinus infection, fever, and sore throat while trying not to get the kids sick. Yuck!
(O.K. I really shouldn't complain because Kit got me all stocked up with medicine and food before he left and I had full access to Netflix and PBS.  I got to be in our own home in our own beds which always makes being sick a little bit easier...)
We got through it and I am thankful to be feeling better!
Today, I am looking forward to getting some breathing room as we head off to one of our favorite beach spots:
We look forward to going here every year and I am always so excited to get away together!
