A Birthday Weekend part 1

On Saturday, we got together with our family to celebrate my nephew Xander's, Kit's and my birthday, and my nephew Max's 8th grade graduation.  We started the day with doughnuts and a hike:
Then we headed to Mia and Papa's house:
It was a fun way to kick off the weekend!

FORTY

Yesterday I turned forty!
As I think about entering a new decade of life, I am so thankful.  When I entered my 20's, Kit and I were planning to get married and I was going to be a nurse.  That decade was marked by marriage and career.  When I turned 30, I had a two month old, big eyed baby Ryder.  My thirties were marked by parenthood/motherhood.  As I look ahead to what my forties hold, I realize that each decade so far has brought everything that I love most in my life and that brings me the most joy.  I walk into this decade with a grateful heart and open to all that it holds!

Summer...

Very often, Summer means a couple of things:
1. Being with family and
2. Being in a pool.
Well, being Redlands lends itself to both, and they make our heart so happy!
We love that summer is here!

Taking it up a notch...

Over the last several months, Kit has learned to make sourdough bread.  We have all been benefiting from this new found hobby.
Well just when I didn't think it could get any better, a few weeks ago he added roasted garlic...
Our house has been smelling so good and I am falling more and more in love with this baker of mine...

launching dragons

On May 30, we got to watch history:
From the NASA website:
"For the first time in history, NASA astronauts have launched from American soil in a commercially built and operated American crew spacecraft on its way to the International Space Station. The SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft carrying NASA astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley lifted off at 3:22 p.m. EDT Saturday on the company’s Falcon 9 rocket from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida."

It was so cool to watch history take place!

An afternoon of pampering...

On Sunday after church, the boys went to play tennis and Eden and I did face masks and a haircut while watching "Hook."
She loves it and can't stop flipping her hair...
She's also pulling out all the clips...
It's not perfect but it has been getting so tangled that we had to do something about it and we all LOVE it!

First Official Day of Summer

Last Friday was our first official day of Summer vacation. It was so NICE to not have any school work to tackle!
Sleeping in and screen time were on the docket.  Then Kit made sourdough pancakes.
We went on a walk/ride on the Esplanade trail.
Then we ordered Avilas, which is where we go as a tradition at the end of school and for any special school related activities (Christmas break, parent teacher conferences to affirm the kiddos, last day of school, first day of school...  You get the idea.❤︎)
Then we went on our evening walk and watched the Last Jedi.
It will take awhile to get into the groove of summer actually being here, but we are SO glad that it is!
P.S. How we feel about no more distance learning:
