Yesterday we had our last official speech therapy session with our therapist, Stephanie. We met her in May of 2012 and she has been such an incredible blessing in helping Ryder to develop his speech and language skills. She showed us how to turn everyday play into moments of concrete learning. When she started working with us, his words were about 10% intelligible and he had less than 15 words. She created a space for us to work together so that we could come along side Ryder and help him learn to articulate words, express his emtions with speech and tell us what he was thinking and what he needed. She introduced us to our son, and we are forever grateful to this AMAZING woman! We exchanged emails and we will be texting updates so I know even though we are done with our regular sessions, we will stay connected!
Ryder always sat on our bed to be on the look out for HIS Mrs. Stephanie. Our last day was no different.
He had made a card for her and was SO excited to give it to her!
