January books

Here is what I read this month:

This is the book that the movie “A Man Called Otto” was made from. The story is so redemptive, and the characters and story development are the absolute best. Watching the character of Ove deal with his grief while learning to love and be loved by those around him was so special. I highly recommend!

Each year in January, I read through this book of sermons by Martin Luther King, Jr. It is so inspiring to listen/read his words and think of the impact that the Lord can invite you to have on the world.  I would absolutely recommend it.

I could get used to this…

I just acquired the cutest chauffeur there ever was:

He has driven with his dad but January 18 was my first time driving with him. We drive the highlander around our neighborhood and he did great! He  has also taken me to the grocery store and nailed it!

Taco Tuesday

Around the corner from our house is a little hole in the wall spot that has killer gosh tacos and they are half price on Tuesdays. It was a spot we found right when we moved to the area. Every once in a while, I love grabbing lunch there. Here is the plan for today:

Happy Tuesday!

Weekend snap shots...

A low key weekend and a few snapshots of our shenanigans: We kicked off the weekend with a win for Ryder's high school team.  Kit baked bread to go with our favorite soup, we snuggled our bunnies, Kit did a memorial service out on a boat for a friend's dad from church, and we made the viral dumping bake from Trader Joe's for the second time and we loved it.  Sunday is always a day at church and then napping.  We had a really sweet weekend and are ready for the week ahead!

sibling moments

Eden had a hard day last week and her brother was the perfect person to lift her spirits.

At one point she had tears and he wiped them with his sleeve. I wanted to cry. I had to snapshot this moment, but it’s the type that as a mom, you’ll never forget.

A very exciting first for Ryder

On Saturday the 17th, Ryder was invited to play at the Serie A Elite talent ID camp in LA and he killed it! He scored the first goal, his first touches were excellent, he skill has grown like crazy over the years and he loved getting to be out there.

We are so proud of this kid!

mlk day

Today we remember and celebrate an incredible human being. Of the incredible words and works he shared with the world, this is probably one of my favorite quotes:

I look at the world we are in now and I reread his “I have a dream” speech and I wanted to weep, one with how broken it is, and one for hope of wholeness and not giving up that these big dreams can become realities…

unexpected date night

The other night so took Eden to practice and it happened to be close to Kit’s office. He met me there and we had a little time sitting and watching Eden’s practice and talking…

I love every chance I get to spend with this man…

scrapbooking rhythm

Every January, I print out my favorite photos from the previous holiday seasons and spend time scrapbooking the memories!

It makes me so happy to look through the books that I make.

A new toy!

We love drinking coffee and making fun coffee drinks. I found out about this espresso maker that you use on your stove top. It has even been listed under camping coffee makers. So Kit and I found a really reasonable one on Amazon and have been loving it! Our tiny Yeti espresso cups now have a time to shine…❤️

Snapshots from a weekend…

While Ryder was at an MUN conference:

Eden had a beach run with her team and then had a date with her dad:
I’ve been sick so we had church at home. Sunday was low-key…
The weekend was full of good things. We are so grateful for what God has invited us into and ways we get to do life…

cheering for our favorite waterpolo player

This week we got to support and cheer on our Hazie Rose! She is the most beautiful human being inside and out but when she gets in the water, she’s an absolute BEAST! She got the winning goal against a local rival. Way to go San Clemente!

A Crystal Cove New Years!

We were able to score one of the Crystal Cove cottages from January 1-3! It’s been a bucket list item for our family to stay there and it was magical. It’s one of our favorite local beaches and we were thrilled to be able to start the new year with this family adventure!

We stayed in cottage #36, which we quickly learned was one of the best ones!

We enjoyed meals at the Beachcomber:

We walked to the beach and tide pools:

We grabbed food at the Shake Shack and enjoyed the lights:

We spent time at the cottage:

Our time was precious. It was an INCREDIBLE way to kick off the year!
