Shaver Lake 2019

We are back from our week away and it was SO GOOD!
As always, getting on the road can take lots of planning and prep (AND STUFF!)...
Silliness on the early morning drive...
And food from Sonic to get us the final leg of the trip.
But then we pull into the driveway and all the craziness melts away and it feels like vacation can really begin!
Each year seems to go faster and faster:
2016~2017~2018~2019
We walked down to the pond and a favortie meadow after everyone was settled in...
Looking for frogs is a favorite!
Then we headed back to the cabin to play a new-to-us game of "Exploding Kittens":
 We loved it!
Our first morning was nice and slow.
We headed out to breakfast:
Then we headed up to Dinkey Creek camp ground to check out a place that has natural water slides:
We loved this place!  We had never been before and we were excited to go!
If there is a chance, he will be fishing...
 My little fish...
Oh I can't get enough of this man...
We spent the weekend with our friends from college that have become family.
These three were room mates freshman year in 1998. This August marks 21 years of friendship.
On Friday, everyone's first full day there, we headed to Shaver Lake for our annual Lake Day!
Hanging in the hammock with my main squeeze:
And as soon as I stepped away:
 Time on the beach...
Tiny fisherman....
The girls got the mama's flowers...
Then on Saturday, we headed back to the natural water slides with everyone:
When you hang your hammock next to your husband's "first wife"... you get nothing but sass:
Then we headed home to have dinner and shoot BB guns and a dance party:
We love these people so much and I am over the moon excited that we get this tradition every year as part of our family vacation!
After everyone went home, Kit took Ryder on his (belated) birthday backpacking trip.
They had an amazing time and are already planning for next year!
While the boys went away for their overnight, Eden and I picked wild flowers, did watercolors, drank hot chocolate and watched movies with face masks!
After the boys got home, we planned some little activities that have become a tradition for our family.
We went to the Historical Society Museum:
Then we headed to a sequoia grove!
Then finished our day with stream fishing and swimming and dinner at the Hungry Hut in town!
 Ryder cooking our lunch...
 Keeping those fishing skills up...
 I found them like this...
On the way home, Kit took us to the little chapel where he would go to Christmas Eve services all while he was growing up.  It was such a treat for us all!
Our last day consisted of being at the cabin, playing games, watching movies, taking naps, having Ryder cook his fish and ending with a slumber party and watching the stars...
There were so many sweet memories and traditions made inside these walls, as well as outside, and I will hold them each so close to my heart... I love that we get this time together every week!
We can't wait to go back...
Shaver Lake, you were so good to us!
